We took off around 11:30 from my work.

We stopped for gas and
decided to hit the freeway to plug away some miles. It didn’t work. We were on
94 for ten minutes and ran into a major traffic jam. After sitting in it for
about ten minutes we cut down the break down lane and got off. All back roads
from here. The traffic was nice for being Memorial Day weekend as we rode along
on the back roads. I could tell that I didn’t sleep well the night before and
working four hours didn’t help. As we were riding I knew I was zoning off. We
stopped at a gas station to fuel up and grab some snacks and as I was wandering
around I had a gentleman ask me where I got my rack system for my KLR. I was so
out of it that I couldn’t think of where I bought them and had to turn to
Isaiah to remind me. After a Coke and some chips I was refueled and ready to
ride.
Hwy 13 was a little thicker with traffic and a lot of people
that were in a hurry to get where they were going. One Illinois car was
particularly rude and riding Isaiah’s ass. He finally got the room to pass us
and went on his way. A half hour or so later we caught up with the same guy. He
was clipping along around 70 so we stayed with him. As we were cruising we
passed a state trooper that was heading the other way. He quickly turned around
and turned on his lights. We slowed and pulled over and he went right by us and
pulled over the silver bullet. I so badly wanted to honk and wave as we passed
him but decided it would be best to take my luck and keep moving down the road.
We pulled into Ashland WI around 7:45, stopped out at my father’s grave to make
sure everything was ok with him and then made our way to Mary’s home where we
would spend our first night.
We pull into our home for the night and promptly get put to
work earning our keep dumping weeds into the compost pile. Then we were treated
to pizza and soda.
